Lightning Strikes St. Peters Basilica Hours After The Pope Announced Resignation

Lightning appeared to strike St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City on Monday just hours after Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation. The lightning strike happened around 6 p.m. local time.

Global news agency Agence France-Presse was the first to publish the startling photo of a lightning bolt coming out of the heavens and appearing to strike the dome of St. Peter's Basilica, one of Catholicism's holiest sites.

AFP photographer Filippo Monteforte caught the amazing photograph on Monday evening during a storm. "It was icy cold and the rain was falling in sheets," he told. "When the storm started, I thought that lightning might strike the rod, so I decided it was worth seeing whether – if it did strike – I could get the shot at exactly the right moment.”

He waited two hours before lightning struck twice and he captured a still image. “The first bolt was huge and lit up the sky, but unfortunately I missed it," he told. "I had better luck the second time, and was able to snap a couple of images of the dome illuminated by the bolt.”

But Fairfax Media photographer Nick Moir told Australia's The Age via The Sydney Morning Herald that the image looks legitimate. "It's probably not that rare for St Peter's to get hit," he told the publication. "The bolt is hitting a lightning rod to the side of the cross, it seems."

On Monday, Benedict announced he will resign from the papal office on Feb. 28 due to health concerns. He is the first pope to do so in nearly 600 years.

Zlatan's Red Card 'Not Fair' - Ancelotti

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has been left fuming after a late red card to striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic marred a 2-1 victory over Valencia in the first-leg of the clubs' Champions League tie.

PSG were in control of the match and, thanks to first-half strikes from Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore, looked to be taking a strong 2-0 aggregate lead back to Paris for the return fixture.

But a frantic final four minutes turned the game on its head with Rami stealing a precious goal for the hosts before Ibrahimovic was shown a straight red card for lashing out at Valencia's Andres Guardado.

A livid Ancelotti said he could not understand why his striker, now banned for the return leg, was dismissed for what he thought was innocuous challenge.

"Ibrahimovic's red card was not deserved. I don't understand it. It's not fair," Ancelotti told Canal+.

"We conceded a goal and Ibrahimovic got a red card and I don't think that he deserved it because it was a normal tackle. And so, because of this, we are really disappointed because the play was really good, we played really well, focused on the game, and for this we have to be happy but the end of the game was not good for us."

"I think it was a normal tackle, nothing special, I was surprised to see a red card."

PSG director and former AC Milan coach Leonardo also weighed into the argument, believing the Swedish striker was harshly dealt with due to his past indiscretions.

"Ibrahimovic's red card was a bit severe," the Brazilian told beIN Sport. "It was because of his reputation."

And despite agreeing with Leonardo's sentiments, PSG defender Mamadou Sakho was adamant the victory in the hostile environment of the Mestalla should be squad's focus, not Ibrahimovic's late marching orders.

"We're disappointed to concede a goal, especially at the end of the game," Sakho said. "But overall, it's a good result. To come here and win is very good after all.

"With Ibrahimovic, it is known that with his character, he may release a small gesture like that. But we must especially remember the victory."

PHOTOS: Black Monkey Grabs Cossy's Boobs

Cossy is at it again! She posted a picture of herself on Twitter yesterday with a black hand touching her boobs which she called 'black monkey'.

After the supposed black monkey man ( well, let's hope its a man) touched her boobs, she then tries to drives him away again.

If she didn't want the black monkey to caress her boobs, why did she allow him access in the first place, and why does she look like she is enjoying it?

Ronaldo 'Anxious' Ahead Of United Clash

Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien says Cristiano Ronaldo is "anxious" to face former team-mates when Manchester United visit the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Ronaldo will take on United for the first time since moving to Spain in 2009, with expectation levels rising ahead of the game.

Much of the talk in the lead-up to the round of 16 Champions League fixture has centred on the Portuguese forward, and Essien revealed it has not gone unnoticed by the player himself.

"Cristiano is anxious; you want to start the game. He is in extraordinary physical condition," Essien said.

"In the Champions League it will be a different game. I'm ready and the team is as well. They have many attackers and it is up us to stop them.

"They are a fantastic team. It's a great game and I can't wait for it to start. We're not scared of being knocked out. It's another great game and the players are all really excited, really looking forward to playing. We know it will be very tough".

Meanwhile, Essien's team-mate Karim Benzema believes manager Jose Mourinho is motivated by the opportunity to defeat old foe Sir Alex Ferguson in the tie.

"I am sure there is something personal for Mourinho," Benzema is quoted as saying in The Sun. "When he was in England, every season he was fighting with Alex Ferguson for the title.

"Mourinho is a big winner and wants to win every game. But you can see what these games against Manchester United mean to him. There is an excitement is his voice."
