Ganiyu Hassan,a student and a bike rider, Wasiu Arepo, an aluminum products manufacturer and Oluwaseun Idowu, a driver has been sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of Ikeja High Court.
The convicts were found guilty on a four count charge of murder and armed robbery. The offence which was commited on February 5, 2011 at Aleke village, Imota at 2a.m when they broke into the house of one Mr Abubakar demanding the money he had withdrawn from the bank a day before. Mr Abubakar received a shot to the chest while they made away with N15,000 and other valuables and he dead on his way to the hospital.
The criminals were caught in a nearby community 2hrs later by the vigilante group in the area after the wife of the victim reported the matter at Imota Police Station and was able to identify one of the convicts.
